IUDs and Nexplanon are now free in BC. 

IUDs are small, flexible devices that are inserted into the uterus. Nexplanon is a small, flexible bar which is inserted under the skin in the upper arm. Both forms of contraception are highly effective at preventing pregnancy (>99%). 

The physicians at Abbotsford Medical Centre are accepting referrals for IUD and Nexplanon insertion or removal. Ask your physician to send a referral letter to our clinic, or call to book a consultation. The wait time for consultation is currently 1-2 weeks. 

IUD and Nexplanon consultations are done via phone call. Following your consultation you will be then given an in office appointment for IUD or Nexplanon insertion and a prescription will be faxed to your pharmacy.
